Established in 2021The SF Black Leadership Academy (SFBLA) was formed in 2021 to serve the needs of non-profit organizations that were not receiving high quality leadership and organizational training. The SFBLA is designed to provide professional development & training on a routine or regular basis from a San Francisco based organization.

SF Black Leadership Academy (SFBLA) utilizes (STEM) Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Health, Education, Arts, and Sports to inspire, motivate, and prepare the next generation of successful leaders and their families through (CTE) Career and Technical Education.

Derek L. Toliver

Derek is a Stanford University Alumni and a 7-Time President's Club Award winning Medical, Scientific, and Information Technology Sales Executive, Manager, and Strategic Relationship Executive. He has 38+ years of corporate private industry experience with companies like: Johnson & Johnson, American Scientific Products, Baxter Healthcare, Conmed Surgical, McKesson Automation, and Thomson Reuters Health Care.
Derek has dedicated his life to giving back to underserved communities with his SF Black Leadership Academy, STEM2Hearts, and STEM2Sports programs. He has a special interest in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Health, Education, Arts, and Sports. He is also very focused on delivering cognitive capacity building to nonprofit organizations serving inner-city youth in underserved communities of color.
Derek is also serving as an unpaid civilian volunteer appointed by the Commanding General of the United States Army Reserve as an Army Reserve Ambassador for California. This is a 3-year appointment and the position carries the protocol of a 2-Star Major General representing the US Army Reserve with elected and appointed government officials, civic and private leaders, educational institutions, public and private employers, and students seeking financial assistance and Minuteman Scholarships while pursuing their college education as members of the ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps).
